Leaving the car at Pioneer Square fails the station page. Sound Transit says no Sound Transit parking is available at Pioneer Square Station.
A day visitor chooses a lot from the direction of the drive, then checks two clocks printed on Sound Transit pages read on 11 October 2026. From 4 to 10 a.m. on weekdays, permit zones are held for the permits named on the permits page. After 10 a.m., and all day on weekends and holidays, that zone is first-come, first-served and no permit is necessary. On a facility Sound Transit owns and operates, the parking page says passengers may park for up to 24 hours while on a transit trip. The locations page prints 1,896 spaces at Lynnwood City Center Station, 20201 46th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036. That number is the printed stall count, not a count of empty stalls. A train fare, a standing interval, and a walking time stay blank, because the three parking pages do not print them.
| Check | Copy this | Leave it blank when |
|---|---|---|
| Direction | North, south, or east, using the tables below | The drive is not one of those three |
| Facility row | Name, address, and the service codes in that row | The facility is not a row on the locations page read 11 October 2026 |
| Printed spaces | The number in that row | You need empty stalls today. The page does not print a live count |
| Permit before 10 a.m. on a weekday | The permit types named for that station | The station is absent from the permits table |
| Stay length | Up to 24 hours on a Sound Transit facility, while on a transit trip | The sign names another operator. Those hours are not printed here |
| Fare, interval, walk | The parking pages read for this article do not print them |
Fuel, rest breaks, and the morning road check stay on the road trip checklist. This page does not repeat them.
Which lot matches the direction you are driving?
Use the table for the side you are driving in from. Counts in these tables are the parking-spaces column on the locations page read on 11 October 2026. Each row is a facility that page marks with service code 1, 2, or both. The filter list on that same page labels those codes 1 Line and 2 Line. A row with only bus numbers is not in these tables. Rows are grouped by the city in the printed address. This page does not print a drive time between them.
The locations page does not print an owner on each row. Metro, Community Transit, and Pierce Transit in the service column are service labels, not a proof of who owns the stalls. The 24-hour rule below applies to facilities Sound Transit owns and operates. It does not automatically attach to every row.

A silver sedan in one asphalt stall. A plain rail car sits beyond the lot. No station name is readable.
The car in that picture is not labeled with a station, and the stall lines do not say whether the stall is inside a permit zone. Use the row, not the picture.
North, codes 1 and 2
| Facility | Address as printed | Serviced by | Printed spaces |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lynnwood City Center Station | 20201 46th Ave W, Lynnwood, WA 98036 | 1; 2; 512; 513; 535; Community Transit | 1,896 |
| Mountlake Terrace Freeway Station Park-and-Ride | 6001 236th St SW, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043 | 1; 2; 510; 512; Metro; Community Transit | 668 |

| Green Lake Park-and-Ride (near Roosevelt Station) | 6601 8th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98155 | 1; 2; Metro | 411 |
Lynnwood’s 1,896 is the largest number printed in this north table. It is not a count of open stalls, and it is not a promise that a visitor will find one. Mountlake Terrace is two rows at one printed address, 668 and 202. This page does not add those two numbers into a single facility.
South, code 1
| Facility | Address as printed | Serviced by | Printed spaces |
|---|---|---|---|
| Angle Lake Station | 19955 28th Ave S, SeaTac, WA 98188 | 1; Metro | 1,160 |
| Tukwila Int’l Blvd Station | 3651 Southcenter Blvd, Tukwila, WA 98188 | 1; 597; Metro | 600 |
| Kent Des Moines Park-and-Ride | 23405 Military Rd. S., Kent, WA 98032 | 1; 597; Metro | 370 |
| Kent Des Moines Station | 23525 30th Ave S, Kent, WA 98032 | 1; 597; Metro | 500 |
| Star Lake Station | 27016 26th Ave S, Kent, WA 98032 | 1; 597; Metro | 1,100 |
| Federal Way Downtown Station | 31621 23rd Ave S , Federal Way, WA 98003 | 1; 574; 577; 578; 597; Metro; Pierce Transit | 1,192 |
Angle Lake’s city on the page is SeaTac, not Seattle. Federal Way’s address is copied with the space the page prints before the comma.
East, code 2
| Facility | Address as printed | Serviced by | Printed spaces |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mercer Island Park-and-Ride | 8000 N. Mercer Way, Mercer Island, WA 98040 | 2; 547; Metro | 447 |
| South Bellevue Station | 2704 Bellevue Way SE, Bellevue, WA 98004 | 2; 547; 556; Metro | 1,524 |
| BelRed Station | 13102 NE Spring Blvd, Bellevue, WA 98005 | 2 | 300 |
| Redmond Technology Station | 3929 156th Avenue NE, Redmond, WA 98052 | 2; 542; 545; 547; 566; Metro | 323 |
| Marymoor Village Station | 17300 NE 70th St, Redmond, WA 98052 | 2; 547; Metro | 1,403 |
BelRed’s row prints code 2 and 300 spaces, and no operator name. These east rows do not print code 1. This article does not state which train from an east row reaches Pioneer Square on a given day. Check the station page for that date.
Takeaway: Copy one row. A blank fare, interval, or walk stays blank.
What does Pioneer Square say about parking?
Sound Transit says no Sound Transit parking is available at Pioneer Square Station. The station page, read 11 October 2026, prints the address 3rd Ave & James St, Seattle, WA 98104, and this sentence: “No Sound Transit parking is available at this station. Paid parking is available at other parking lots nearby.”
The locations list read the same day has no Pioneer Square row. The station page does not name those nearby lots, a price, or a walk. Those cells stay blank. The same page says this station does not have public restrooms, and that free bike racks are on the street outside the station. It does not say the same “no Sound Transit parking” sentence for any other downtown station. This article does not either.

A silver rail car beside an empty platform. A yellow strip runs along the concrete. No station name is readable.
The platform in the picture is not labeled Pioneer Square. The station page is the source for the parking sentence. The picture is not.
When that station page was read on 11 October 2026, it carried an upcoming note for 17–19 October 2026. The note said Link shuttle buses would replace 2 Line trains between South Bellevue and International District/Chinatown, and that riders should use 1 Line trains where 2 Line trains would not run from International District/Chinatown to Lynnwood City Center. This article does not copy the intervals in that note. Read the station page again on the day you travel.
When does a permit zone require a permit?
From 4 to 10 a.m. on weekdays. After 10 a.m., and all day on weekends and holidays, the permits page says the permit zone is open to all drivers on a first-come, first-served basis and no permit is necessary.
During those weekday morning hours, exclusive access is for vehicles with a single-occupant permit or a paid one-day reserved permit, and for vehicles with a carpool permit that are occupied by two or more transit passengers on arrival and while parked. A carpool-permitted vehicle that arrives with fewer than two transit passengers uses general parking outside the permit zone.
The permits page says these are stations where parking is usually 90% or more full on weekdays. That is Sound Transit’s description of why the permit areas exist, read 11 October 2026. It is not a live empty-stall count for your morning.

A dark hatchback sits in one marked stall. Other stalls around it are empty. No words are painted on the floor.
The picture does not show which of those stalls, if any, are the permit zone. The sign at the garage does that. This page does not.
Applicants give contact details and license plate numbers. Except for standard special-event permits, they also give a valid ORCA, U-PASS, or RRFP account number. For a carpool permit, each carpool member submits that information. For every permit type, the permit user takes an outbound transit trip from the permitted station on the same date, using a valid ORCA, U-Pass, RRFP, or Subsidized Annual Pass account. On a carpool day during permit-only hours, at least two permit members take that outbound trip. Purchases of monthly and one-day permits are non-refundable. The page does not say that sentence about the free carpool permit.
First-come, first-served parking is available in the other Sound Transit parking areas. The page does not say those stalls will be empty before 10 a.m.
Takeaway: Arrive after 10 a.m. on a weekday, or on a weekend or holiday, and the permit zone does not require a permit. Arrive earlier on a weekday, and it does.
Which stations print a permit price?
Prices below are the permit prices on the permits page read 11 October 2026. They are not a train fare. A train fare is still blank.
| Permit | Price the page prints | Where the page says it is in use | Reduced price the page prints |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carpool (HOV), two or more riders in one vehicle | Free | Lynnwood City Center, Shoreline North/185th Avenue, Shoreline South/148th Avenue, Mountlake Terrace, Northgate, Tukwila International Boulevard, and Angle Lake Link stations, plus Sumner Sounder station | |
| Monthly single-occupant | $60 per month | Shoreline North/185th Avenue, Shoreline South/148th Avenue, and Northgate Link stations | $20 per month for riders eligible for reduced fares |
| One-day reserved | $6 per day, bought up to four weeks ahead | The station table below names the stations that list a $6 one-day permit | $2 per day for riders eligible for reduced fares |
| Special event, one day, up to four weeks ahead, for a designated major regional event | $6 per day | The station table below | $2 per day for a reduced-fare ORCA account, with ORCA Lift, a Regional Reduced Fare Permit, or a Subsidized Annual Pass given as examples |
Sumner is a Sounder station in that carpool sentence. It is not in the Link tables above.
The station table on the permits page is the row to copy. A blank cell means that row did not list that permit.
| Station on the permits page | Carpool | Monthly single-occupant | One-day | Special event |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Angle Lake Station | Free | $6 | ||
| Federal Way Downtown Station | $6 | |||
| Lynnwood City Center Station | Free | |||
| Mountlake Terrace Station | Free | |||
| Northgate Station | Free | $60 | $6 | $6 |
| Shoreline North/185th Avenue Station | Free | $60 | $6 | |
| Shoreline South/148th Avenue Station | Free | $60 | $6 | $6 |
| South Bellevue Station | $6 | |||
| Sumner Station | Free | |||
| Tukwila International Boulevard Station | Free |
The parking overview page, read the same day, prints a shorter station table. It lists free carpool permits at Angle Lake, Lynnwood City Center, Mountlake Terrace, Northgate, Shoreline North/185th, Shoreline South/148th, Sumner, and Tukwila International Boulevard. It also lists $60 monthly and $6 one-day permits at Northgate and both Shoreline stations. It does not list Federal Way Downtown, South Bellevue, or any special-event line. Where both pages print a monthly or one-day price, the figures match. Use the permits table when the question is a special-event permit.
A special-event permit holds the special-event zone until the event start time on that date. The page says vehicles remain parked up to 24 hours from the time of arrival. That “from the time of arrival” phrase is in the special-event paragraph. The general 24-hour sentence does not use it.
The parking page says that starting in 2027, Sound Transit will begin charging user fees at selected Link station park-and-rides, to recover the cost of providing that parking, consistent with the ST3 Plan. The page does not name the stations or the fee. Those cells stay blank. The permit prices above are not that 2027 user fee. The pages read on 11 October 2026 do not print a daily price for a general stall.
How long can the car stay?
Up to 24 hours, on a facility Sound Transit owns and operates, while the driver is on a transit trip. The parking page says those facilities are available to transit passengers 24 hours a day, and that passengers park for up to 24 hours while on trips taken by transit. The permits page repeats the cap for Sound Transit facilities, including permitted vehicles.
Leaving a vehicle parked for over 24 hours is listed for immediate impound, unless Sound Transit has given written permission. The same impound list includes parking anywhere except in marked stalls, blocking entrances, exits, or other vehicles, exceeding a vehicle load of 10,000 lbs including motorhomes, parking in an ADA space without a visible state permit, taking more than one space, trailer parking, parking a vehicle that is for sale, on-site repair, parking for a non-transit purpose Sound Transit has not authorized, and trespassing.

A gray sedan in one outdoor stall at dusk. Neighboring stalls are empty. No sign is readable.
The picture shows a car still in a stall after sunset. It does not show a clock, and it does not show that 24 hours have passed. Write down the time you park. The special-event paragraph is the only place these pages say the 24 hours run from arrival. For every other Sound Transit stall, the pages say “up to 24 hours” and do not name the start of the clock.
A stay into a second night is longer than 24 hours. These pages do not describe a multi-day airport stay, and they do not say an overnight park-and-ride equals several days of parking.
Other operators are a separate rule. The parking page says park-and-rides operated by other agencies may have different hours, and it says to check the signs for space restrictions, facility rules, and hours. The Community Transit park-and-ride page, read the same day, says its transit centers and park-and-rides are in Snohomish County and are for Community Transit customers, carpoolers, vanpoolers, and other authorized people. That page is a search form. It does not print Sound Transit’s 24-hour sentence, and it does not print a stall count in the text saved here. A Community Transit sign is not filled in from the Sound Transit sentence.
Takeaway: Write the time you park. On a Sound Transit facility, over 24 hours is the impound line these pages print.
What do you write down before you drive back?
Copy this card in the lot. A blank stays blank.
| Line | Write | Leave blank when |
|---|---|---|
| Facility | Name and address from one row above | You are not in a row on this page |
| Service codes | The 1 and 2 marks from that row |
The row prints neither |
| Printed spaces | The number in the row, labeled “printed, not empty” | |
| Arrival | Clock time, and whether it is before 10 a.m. on a weekday | |
| Permit | The permit cell for that station, or “no permit required after 10 a.m. / weekend / holiday” | The station is not on the permits table and you are inside a reserved zone whose sign you have not read |
| Account | ORCA, U-PASS, RRFP, or Subsidized Annual Pass, if you are using a permit | You are not using a permit |
| Exit | A clock time inside the 24-hour cap for that stall | The sign names another operator |
What these other pages do not decide
The Port of Seattle page read on 11 October 2026 describes the airport station walkway between the garage and the terminal. It does not list permit hours or the 24-hour stall cap. This article does not copy that page’s service window or its interval into a park-and-ride choice.
The Pierce Transit FAQ read the same day is a Pierce County page about Link fares. Those fare lines stay off this page. The fare cell remains blank.
Nothing here is a field visit. No stall was counted in person, and no train was timed. Rules and stall counts are the figures those pages printed on 11 October 2026. Read the station page and the lot sign again on the day you travel. This is general information, not legal advice.
Methods and sources
The rules and the stall counts are copied from three Sound Transit pages saved on 11 October 2026: Parking, Parking garages and lots, and Parking permits. The Pioneer Square station page was saved the same morning. Its parking sentence, the restroom sentence, the bike-rack sentence, and the 17–19 October 2026 service note are from that save. Intervals inside the service note are left out on purpose.
Community Transit’s park-and-ride page, the Port of Seattle airport-station page, and the Pierce Transit Link FAQ were saved the same day and are used only to mark what this decision does not take from them. No lot was visited. Where a page prints no fare, no interval, no walk, no owner, or no daily general-stall price, the cell is empty.
